近日,礦産普查與勘探專業2024級博士生高和婷在中文核心(EI)期刊《地學前緣》發表題為“從晶體成核-生長熱動力學剖析白雲岩成因問題的新進展”的論文。博士生高和婷為論文第一作者,其導師朱光有教授為通訊作者。
白雲石在地質曆史記錄中具有廣泛的時空分布,是古代岩石中常見的礦物,也是現代海水中熱力學穩定的碳酸鹽相,在現代海洋環境中較為罕見;在實驗室模拟海水條件下以無機方式合成白雲石也極其困難。這是200多年來一直困擾地學研究者的“白雲岩問題”,至今仍是沉積學領域中的一個謎題和熱點。
為更好推進白雲岩成因問題的研究進展,本研究從白雲石晶體結構、熱力學及動力學制約因素方面展開評述。提出生長動力學是制約白雲石形成主控因素,将晶體結構分析與白雲石晶體生長動力學機制相結合,嘗試從原子尺度探索白雲岩成因機制。

晶體結構分析表明,晶體結構控制了白雲石的晶體類型、成核-生長速率、生長方向及其晶體最終形态,并決定了其熱力學和動力學性質。熱力學研究表明,現代海水具有析出白雲石的熱力學傾向,白雲化反應可以在标準狀态下進行,然而現代海水白雲石的沉積量非常有限,建立新的熱力學模型解釋白雲岩成因問題仍需結合實際加以驗證可行性。動力學研究表明,海水中低溫無機白雲石形成困難的動力學因素包括Mg2+的水合作用、硫酸鹽、陽離子有序化過程、CO32-的活性、溶液過飽和度以及成核位點的有無等。但對于這些因素研究的認識仍然存在分歧,并沒有解決低溫無機白雲石形成的關鍵問題。

高新技術的發展與應用,使礦物學研究向分子、原子尺度深入,為白雲石形成機制的研究提供方向。因此,利用高新技術,結合晶體結構分析與晶體成核-生長熱動力學理論,探讨白雲石形成環境與演化特征,從原子尺度分析白雲石晶體生長機制,為白雲岩成因機制的認識提供了有益的視角。
